Build an ENTS* Rocket ship with blinking lights!
A great first project for anyone who’s never soldered before or for kids to do with a parent.
We will each assemble a rocket-shaped PCB, a pin clasp (so you can proudly wear it), a battery holder (with battery), two LEDs and a power switch. With lots of people around, you’ll easily find help in learning how to solder components.
You’ll end up with something that looks like this (but the lights blink and its way cooler).
*Thanks to our counterparts at the Edmonton New Technology Society for giving us a bunch of their boards!

YYC Net Lab ( http://yycnetlab.org ) has partnered with Protospace to offer discounted Cisco Certified Network Associate training through Cisco’s Network Academy program to Protospace members. Examinations such as this one are scheduled on an as-needed basis as students progress through the curriculum. If you are interested in CCNA or any other network related training, YYC Net Lab would love to hear from you.
So, we are a go for November 7, starting at 7:00pm (ish).

Hello again everypony
The next laser training course will be offered Dec 13th at 10am. The course will run approximately 2 hours and will cover all aspects of using the laser cutter for your projects. There is no cost associated with training and it is open to probationary members as well as vetted members. (probationary members will not get a user account on the laser until after they have been vetted).

Course attendance will be capped at 12.
At the AGM, Members chose to hold summer meetings on Tuesday nights, to allow everyone to enjoy summer weekends doing summer stuff.
Due to multiple scheduling conflicts, this meeting was moved from July 14 to July 21.
Agenda and additional information is discussing in the protospace-administration forum.
I’m going to put on laser training on Saturday, Jan 17, at 10 am, if I get sufficient interest.
To take the class you must have taken the basic safety training and be a member in good standing (i.e. paid-up) at the Space.
Let’s shoot for 10 people in the course, but if there is interest we might be able to do more.
Note that this training is specific to the use of the Laser hardware and LaserCut 6.0 (the software that runs the hardware). It does not cover the CAD programs typically used to do the drawings. For the most part most programs that can give you a DXF file will do.
We will do classroom work, demonstrations, and we can do some small individual projects, time permitting, if you want some hands-on. Please bring a ready-to-go DXF file on a memory stick for this if you want to do a cut or an engrave. Also, if you have specific material you want to have a go at, bring a chunk along.
Questions welcome in-thread if you think it will benefit others. Sign-ups in thread too.
Cost for the course is $5.00 to the space for the next laser related crisis (you know it’s coming).
